Climbing Mountains

The transition process begins at Cana Lutheran where I am currently serving as the Interim/Transition pastor. Some are looking forward to this adventure, and some are not. Some see this as an opportunity to rediscover the purpose and mission of the church, and others just want to call a new pastor and get on with being the church. Nonetheless... the transition time is a good time to live out what God might be doing with us and in the community we live. Furthermore... the transition time is a journey up a mountain and the journey will no doubt be one of rough terrain of jagged edges and yet... one of beautiful looking vista's from which to take a break from the hard work.

Most people who take on a mountain climbing journey do it with others. Mountain climbing is a dangerous sport and you need the abilities of others to make the trip a positive and safe experience. You need others to help during the terrain transitions and the encouragement to continue the journey. You can't have a true mountain top experience until you get to the top and having others along for the trip helps you get to the top.

Like the pic above the journey of mountain climbing is one of stages and for it to be safe for all they walk together along a rope that helps you get over the rough spots safely. It's a rope of encouragement, of perseverance, of oneness with others, and of hope. Hope that all will make the trip and hope in the end all will experience God's expanse at the top.

So... we begin the transition journey of entering the foot-hills of the mountain. There is excitement and anxiety, trepidation and joy as we begin our journey. I'm excited about leading and learning how we do this together. Of being challenged and taking in the beautiful vistas we will experience along the way.

Are you ready? Let's go...

See you out on the mountain road.
